Our Approach

Ideas
All programs/services offered through Maximum Capacity incorporate evidence-based, scientifically published techniques. These techniques and strategies are designed to enhance cognition using a balanced approach that includes memory, task management and psychological well-being.

Our experienced staff teach these strategies in a fun and friendly way, while providing a general understanding of brain behaviour relationships and promoting self-awareness.

We currently offer the following services:

Talk Back to Top of Page

The talk consists of a one to two hour presentation, which is modified to address the specific interests of each group. The focus of the talk is to inform people about the changes that can, and often do, occur in the brain. The listener is first taught to identify the cognitive ‘blunders’ he or she is making and isolate the causes of these mistakes. The rest of the talk is then devoted to identifying techniques and strategies for combating cognitive changes. The information is presented in a way that is designed to raise cognitive self-awareness and motivate people to improve the way they think.

Group Seminars Back to Top of Page

Our multi-week seminar series is designed for individuals who want to improve the way they think by learning and practising a variety of techniques and strategies. A strong emphasis is placed on individual style and how the strategies can be integrated into daily life. Memory skills, task management and psychological well-being are taught in an interactive, psycho-educational format in groups of 6 to 8 people. The seminar series consists of 5 to 8 weekly sessions, which are approximately 1.5 to 2 hours in length.

Individual Training Back to Top of Page

One-on-one sessions are designed for individuals with unique cognitive concerns or for whom a group format is not suitable or appropriate. The individual’s cognitive concerns are discussed, goals and areas for improvement are identified and a plan for rehabilitation is set. The number and frequency of sessions varies considerably from person to person.
